With certainly. It is well known that modern UHF RFID technology can help to optimise processes, save time and money. UHF RFID however can do more. For example, it can help to increase safety in the transport and railway sector. We provide Ha-VIS RFID4Rail as a package that covers the relevant applications in this sector.
- Transmits signal states into the vehicle: An ETB sensor transponder can transmit driving signals into the vehicle. Each signal leads to a specific circuit of the transponder where the respective information can then be read by an antenna attached to the vehicle. In addition to the purely optical signal, the driver is also informed in the driver's cab accordingly. A reliable UHF RFID reader is inside the train, a robust antenna is outside on the train and a battery and maintenance-free transponder is in the track bed. This combination provides significantly better safety.
- Vehicle localisation: Which track section is the vehicle on? This can include securing free routes or on-demand "sanding" of the tracks or vehicle wheels. These questions can also be answered easily and reliably with UHF RFID. Also, and especially, where other systems do not work reliably (e.g. satellite-based systems in tunnels), transponders, antennas and RFID readers enable vehicles to be safely localised.
- Platform detection at the railway station is no problem. Only the doors on the side facing the platform may be opened. And the doors only open after the vehicle has come to a complete stop. UHF RFID enables reading zones to be created that allow the position of a vehicle to be determined with centimetre accuracy.
