20% higher power in the same space
As the global leading manufacturer for railway connectors and cables, HARTING can look back to decades of knowledge for high current / high voltage interfaces. Whether for inter-car jumper between wagons or between the locomotive and the wagons, the demand to transmit higher and higher power is always present.
Therefore, HARTING’s developers examined the proven Han® HC Modular high-current contact inserts for potential improvements. The result is the new Han® HC DoubleContact technology. Increased contact conductivity enables a 20% higher current-carrying capacity.
The smallest version can safely transmit 300 A at 2,000 V, while the largest can safely transmit up to 700 A at 4,000 V. Enough flexibility to meet future challenges.

Faster installation and less cable tension due to rotatable contacts
The thicker the cable, the harder it is to handle. The developers at HARTING have not only considered ways to increase current-carrying capacity, but also how to optimise the handling of high-current connectors and cables. It takes clever ideas to simplify the assembly process.
Rotatable contacts are the solution for reducing tension on the cable. The new high-current contacts snap into the insulating body and can then be rotated into the correct position. This allows the installer much greater flexibility in cable routing compared to traditional HC contacts. The module frame can be secured with fewer screws, saving additional time during installation.
Work on high-current connections must be performed safely to prevent the risk of electric shock. The new high-current contacts feature comprehensive finger protection on both sides. This ensures a safe working environment during installation and maintenance processes.
