HARTING restructures its Automotive business
The HARTING Technology Group will restructure its Automotive business. The solenoid business will be discontinued. This product area has focused applications in the internal combustion engine sector. Final deliveries are scheduled for June 2027, with the process due to be completed by the end of 2027.
The company will now focus entirely on the development, manufacturing and sales of future-oriented charging equipment for electric vehicles, which offer sustainable growth potential.
“The global automotive market is going through a fundamental transformation,” said Philip Harting, CEO of the HARTING Technology Group. “Accelerated innovation cycles, global supply chains and increasing competition from Asia result in enormous cost pressure. We cannot counter this pressure through price adjustments alone. We must align our structures along the entire value chain accordingly.” In concrete terms, this means that certain functions will be relocated from Germany to Romania and existing contracts will be phased out gradually. A total of around 47 jobs in Germany are affected. The necessary adjustments for the HARTING site in Romania still need to be worked out in detail.
“It goes without saying that our works council is closely involved in every step and that applicable labour and co-determination laws are being taken into account,” says Marco Grinblats, Managing Director of HARTING Automotive GmbH. “Together with the HR department, we are now working on the next steps and individual options to manage this transformation as best as possible.”
HARTING Automotive stands by its commitments: existing contracts and delivery schedules will be honoured in full. Customers and suppliers will be informed individually and at an early stage. The restructuring will give HARTING Automotive greater focus and thus a stronger foundation for shared growth.
